The General Intelligence Agency is a state special service responsible for providing national security in accordance with the Concept of National Security, Law on Intelligence, and other applicable laws. 

Intelligence service of Mongolia has a history of hundreds of centuries, and with its enormous amount of contribution to the nation’s sovereignty and security, it is a vital part of State of Mongolia.

The current principle of operations of General Intelligence Agency is to employ the traditional and modern means inseparably, to worship democracy and human rights, to execute responsibilities directed by the law, and to be professional, reputable, and skilful.    

The GIA has began to implement series of enhancement actions in fulfilling the Government’s 2008-2012 Agenda- “To improve the legal environment in support for GIA’s primary focus of operation, to take measures in strengthening its human resources, to consummate informational and registry reforms of operations and communications technology, and to keep up with the development of information and communication technology”.
